    Every yarn dyer has a story, and Shelly Ketcheson’s starts with a childhood potholder loom.

    As a little girl, she loved choosing colors, weaving potholders, and selling them around her neighborhood. What began as a simple creative outlet grew into a lifelong passion for fiber arts. Over the years, she’s explored just about every corner of the fiber world, but weaving, spinning, and dyeing are the crafts she keeps coming back to.

    What draws Shelly in, again and again, is color. She’s fascinated by the way colors interact, influence one another, and create something entirely new when they’re brought together. That sense of curiosity and play is woven through every skein she dyes.

    Nature is a constant source of inspiration for Shelly’s work, and you can often see echoes of the natural world in her colorways. Whether it’s a subtle shift in a landscape, a favorite season, or an unexpected combination of colors found outdoors, her yarns invite makers to slow down, explore, and create something beautiful.
